Pharmcle signs System Development Contract with DAPA(Defense Acquisition Program Administration) for ‘Powder-Type Rapid Decontaminant’

• Developing a key national security asset by leveraging its expertise in public hygiene, pest management, and advanced formulation technology to enter the CBRN defense sector of the K-defense industry

• Rapid neutralization without water; advanced formulation technology prevents corrosion of military equipment and maximizes operational survivability

Pharmcle Co., Ltd., a company specializing in public hygiene and pest management and a leading manufacturer of insecticidal and sterilization solutions (CEO Chanmin Chyun), announced that it has signed a contract with the Defense Acquisition Program Administration (DAPA) for the “Powder-Type Rapid Decontaminant System Development” and has officially commenced development.

This project is a key national defense initiative aimed at strengthening the military’s response capabilities against chemical and biological threats. The “powder-type rapid decontaminant” will be developed by Pharmcle is a high-performance agent designed to neutralize toxic substances quickly when dispersed over military equipment or operational areas contaminated by chemical agents. Unlike conventional methods, it can be used immediately even in environments where water is unavailable. Its excellent portability is expected to significantly enhance operational efficiency in field conditions.

Within the defense industry classification, the decontaminant falls under the category of CBRN (Chemical, Biological, Radiological, and Nuclear) defense systems. Although it is not a direct offensive weapon, it serves as a critical defensive asset that protects personnel and equipment in the event of an enemy chemical attack. This contract signifies that Pharmcle’s technology has met the military standards and specifications (MIL-SPEC) established by the United States Department of Defense (DoD), marking its entry into the stage of application within an actual military system.

Powder-type decontaminants require highly advanced formulation technologies that provide strong adsorption and neutralization capabilities while preventing corrosion of metals, rubber, and other materials used in military equipment. Pharmcle plans to leverage its 36 years of accumulated expertise in chemical formulation, stabilization technologies, and aerosol spray systems developed through its insecticide and disinfectant businesses to ensure the success of the project. If system development is successfully completed, DAPA plans to proceed with subsequent mass production and gradually integrate the system into military operational capabilities.

CEO Chanmin Chyun of Pharmcle stated,
“This contract with the Defense Acquisition Program Administration (DAPA) represents a significant milestone, as Pharmcle’s expertise and technology in public hygiene and pest management have been recognized as national defense technologies that contribute to safeguarding national security.” He added, “Through close cooperation with related organizations, including the Agency for Defense Development (ADD), we will strengthen global competitiveness in the CBRN sector of the K-defense industry and contribute to national security.”
